Description:
Under general supervision, collects and interprets geographic information provided by geodetic surveys, aerial photos and satellite data. Analyzes, evaluates, measures and records geospatial data using geographic information systems software and related hardware and software specific to the area of assignment. Creates or maintains GIS databases and cartographic products. Performs geospatial analyses of moderate complexity and presents data in cartographic form. Operates and adjusts equipment and apparatus used to obtain geospatial data. Monitors adherence to policies and procedures. Locates and obtains existing geographic information databases. Develops, operates, and maintains geographical information computer systems, including hardware, software, plotters, and video cameras

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of local and national spatial data standards, producers, and availability of data
- Knowledge of geographic information databases
- Knowledge of GIS theories and analysis techniques
- Skill in carrying out geo processing and analysis techniques
- Skill in using GIS and other software modeling and application functions and modules
- Skill in correctly applying principles of geodetic science, cartography, remote sensing and data management
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Ability to apply cartographic principles such as coordinate systems, scale and resolution, projections, and thematic mapping techniques for simple map composition and production, and database construction
- Ability to operate and maintain a GIS system to include hardware, software, plotters, digitizers, and video cameras
- Ability to use area specific software
- Ability to perform maintenance of equipment according to guidelines
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
Agencgy-Specific Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in geography, cartography, geology or a closely related field
OR
Four Years of experience in GIS or mapping
Position Requirements:

Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who in addition meting the minimum qualifications possess one or more o the following:
- Master’s degree in geography, cartography, geology or closely related field
- Experience working with ESRI software, ARCGIS & ARCGIS online & Google Earth
- Experience working in community planning
- Experience working with census data
