County Risk Assessments in support of GEMA Hazard Mitigation

County Risk Assessments in support of GEMA Hazard Mitigation

The Georgia Geospatial Information Office (GIO)  is in discussions to coordinate with local communities and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency to provide enhanced risk-assessments in support of local hazard mitigation planning initiatives using FEMA’s HAZUS-MH program.  This program utilizes local Computer-Aided Mass Appraisal (CAMA) data as a primary input and models previously recorded or potential hazard events to determine accurate risk/loss calculations.  If funded, this initiative is set to begin in October 2015.

More information about HAZUS-MH can be found on FEMA’s website at: https://www.fema.gov/hazus.  More information can be found about the initiatives of Georgia’s GIO athttp://gio.ga.gov.
